Meconium research
Together with the Maastricht Science Program of Maastricht University, I have conducted research into the transformation processes of butterflies. Why is it that every type of butterfly has a different color of meconium? We found out that the caterpillar’s food is not decisive for the color meconium
that the butterfly sheds. We still don’t know what influences the color. We will continue to research this in the coming years to find out more about this process.
